About

On Saturday, October 16th 2010, Our Lady of the Lake School and Parish held one of the biggest events the Township of Verona has ever seen. Under a 17,000 square foot tent, 1,400 revelers ages 21 to 90, came together to listen to the sounds of a German UmPah Band, feast on traditional German fare, taste a variety of ales from local brewers, dance the night away and win amazing raffle prizes. Ask anyone in Verona and they will smile at the thought of OKTOBERFEST 2010!

Of course, the best part was the proceeds that benefited the youth and children of the parish and the school here in Verona. Our Lady of the Lake School has been nominated as a Blue Ribbon School for 2010-2011, an honor for any learning institution — especially a small, private school on a tight budget. Our Lady of the Lake Youth Group participation in the Public High School is over 25%, one of the highest on the East Coast. They have traveled to Kentucky to help build homes for poverty-stricken citizens, and last year’s Oktoberfest proceeds helped them go to New Orleans to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

This year we are pleased to announce KINDERFEST 2011, an additional night for family fun under the big tent. KINDERFEST will be an event for the entire community to enjoy free entertainment and activities for children of all ages!
